Our philosophy: You are your own best expert at what needs to
happen in your family. Others may have valuable support and input that will help to strengthen your family, but you have the final say.
choose new solutions for your family needs
As your family meets with necessary supports -- who could be attorneys, social workers, accountants, therapists -- and you work together as a group to find
solutions, you may come up with new strategies, find resources within
your community, make new agreements, learn new things, or simply get a better
understanding of your choices. FIRST, A CHECK-INAre
you willing to take an honest look at where your family is, right
now? What does your "family landscape" look like? Are you ready for change? Is the "status quo" working for you? What would you
like to see different? CHOOSE TO CHANGEEveryone who is working with the family has a voice. First: creating a safe space so that everyone on
the team can share honestly and openly. Next -- Purpose: why are we here? What does the family want to accomplish? What are we here for? What is our purpose? "Who
Is" this family? Next? Vision. What could this family be, or do,
or do better? What strengths do we already have to achieve that goal?
What needs or concerns do we have about getting from here to there?
Last: Action Plan. Small first steps to take today.
| | COMMUNICATION Creating a safe space for listening, so that everyone on the
team feels safe to share the best -- and the worst -- in order to make
the necessary changes to move forward.
COLLLABORATION Synergy: where two or more things applied together have a
greater or significantly different effect than the sum of effects of the
things applied separately. (Wikipedia)
Everyone, parents, extended family members, children, and professional supports,
working together for a common goal, creating new solutions, achieving
new results.
CLARITY With a shared understanding of
Who We Are as a family, a clear Purpose, an honest assessment of
Strengths and Concerns, now it's easy to move forward again.
CHOICE Creating
an Action Plan together that acknowledges our family Strengths,
addresses our Needs and Concerns, plans for what to do in a crisis, and
factors in the follow-up meetings to check on our progress and fine-tune
the process.
